Paige Hansen
Research Specialist in the MIT Department of Biological Engineering
Paige is a founding member of the Tal Research Group (since July 2021) who focuses on investigating immunology in the context of infectious disease, sex differences, immune clearance, and engineering. Some examples of Paige’s most recent work include, “Lyme disease increases risk for multiple gynecological conditions”, “SIRPa controls CD47-dependent platelet clearance in mice and humans”, and “P66 is a bacterial mimic of CD47 that binds the anti-phagocytic receptor SIRPα and facilitates macrophage evasion by Borrelia burgdorferi”. With a background in biology and project management, Paige designed and oversees the biobank for the clinical study, MAESTRO. Paige has 5+ years of experience supervising and mentoring Technical Associates (technicians), undergraduate researchers, and highschool interns.
In her free time, Paige is a CORP board member of Alpha Xi Delta Nu chapter and she enjoys cooking, watching film, ballet, barre, visiting museums, traveling, and engaging in pretty much any form of design (graphic, architectural, interior, watercolor, knitting, etc.).
