Yuri Kim

Clinical Research Nurse in the MIT Department of Biological Engineering

Yuri is a Registered Nurse and the lead clinical research nurse for the MAESTRO study. As the primary contact for the study, she oversees its daily operations and ensures that research activities comply with ethical and regulatory standards, including ICH/GCP guidelines. In addition to managing the study, Yuri interacts directly with participants, providing compassionate care and advocacy.

Yuri brings over eight years of combined experience in clinical research and pharmaceutical R&D. She has worked for approximately six years as a research nurse and two years as a Medical Information Specialist in a major global pharmaceutical R&D. Throughout her career, she has managed complex multi-site interventional and non-interventional clinical studies across universities, hospitals, and the pharmaceutical industry. Before transitioning to research nursing, Yuri worked as an RN at a Level 1 Emergency Trauma Center, where she gained critical clinical experience treating a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses.

Yuri has contributed to research across various therapeutic areas, including infectious diseases, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases (such as amyloidosis and Alzheimer’s disease), brain injuries (including Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), and other complex chronic illnesses. She has a strong interest in neuroscience, particularly in the neurocognitive changes in Infection Associated Chronic Illnesses. As the lead research nurse for the MAESTRO study, Yuri aspires to continue designing comprehensive research studies focused on patients suffering from complex chronic symptoms related to infectious diseases.

Outside of her professional work, Yuri enjoys traveling and has a particular fondness for exploring Bangkok. She also loves good coffee, cooking, and baking, and maintains a deep, lifelong interest in art and classical music.
