Samira Aghlara-Fotovat

Postdoctoral Researcher in the MIT Department of Biological Engineering

Samira Aghlara-Fotovat earned her PhD in Bio-Engineering from Rice University, where she developed localized, hydrogel-encapsulated cell therapies for immunoregulation in a variety of inflammatory diseases including Acute respiratory distress syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome, and Myocardial Infarction
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, her focus is on studying the intersection of infectious diseases and gynepathology. Her current work utilizes in vitro modeling of human endometrial tissue to investigate the effect of Lyme disease.
In her free time, Samira loves to spend time with her family and two cats, as well as cook, and exercise (just not cardio).
